Dilly (or Gary Dillon as hes known to his mother), is certainly no stranger to electronic music in all its forms. As a DJ he has played and been resident at some of the biggest clubs and nights in Irelands history. From his early acid house days guesting in the legendary Tokyo Joes, Kellys and Circus Circus nights, to his celebrated and still talked about residency in Dublins infamous Asylum club. Some of his 8 hour 10am sets are still being raved about and honoured to this day!
Over the years Dilly has djed alongside hundreds of the worlds djing elite, such as Carl Cox, Tony De Vit, Dave Clarke, Africa Bambaata, Dave Angel, Joey Beltram, Pete Tong, Steve Lawler, Tall Paul, Farley Jackmaster Funk, CJ Bolland and Slam to name a few.
Dilly and his Mixmaster Records team were residents at without doubt Irelands most prestigious and respected club night, Shine, where he featured on line ups with some of the most influential djs on the planet. He was also a director, co-founder and A&R of Shines connected record label Shine Recordings having co-signed & secured artists and remixers such as Slam, Justin Robertson, Jon Carter, Tony Thomas, Valentino Kanzyani and Peace Division.
Dilly was owner and driving force behind Irelands biggest and most respected dance music store Mixmaster. The Mixmaster store over 10 years built a steady reputation throughout the world as being a leading light in the supply of upfront dance music. It supplied a lot of the worlds djing elite with vinyl. Djs such as Layo & Bushwacka, Danny Howells, Nick Warren, Claude Young, Des Mitchell, CJ Bolland, Tom Middleton, Fergie, Agnelli & Nelson, Phil Kieran, Graham Gold, Paul Van Dyk, Sasha, Ken Ishi, Dylan Rhymes & DJ Deep all graced the Mixmaster / Bassdivision store listening posts over its 10 year reign.
These days Dilly & business partner Graeme Laverty (Graeme L) run the highly successful recording studio & production company ’Cloud 9 Studios’ which is home to some of the biggest dance music producers in Ireland as well as the finest up & coming production talent. Recent Cloud 9 clients include David Guetta & Taio Cruz. They remix, produce and sign productions to some of the most famous record labels in the world. Between them they now have over 20 years experience in the music industry and every day offer valuable advice and guidance on productions and musical directions to many aspiring artists.
On the production side Dilly’s first release vinyl release was on Mixmaster’s connected record label Mixmaster Recordings. ‘Paranoid Girl’ had the worlds DJ elite foaming at the mouth!. It featured as the last tune in John Digweeds last ever live mix from New Yorks Twilo before it closed which was featured on his Kiss Fm show. It was also requested by Steve Lawler for his Dark Drums album and featured on many cool compilations around the world. Other supporting djs included Dave Seamen, Sasha, Lee Burridge, Deep Dish and Nick Warren.
